What happens during the consultation?

Your consultation includes a specialist assessment with Dr Lowe, discussion of your concerns, examination of the area, and advice regarding possible diagnosis and treatment options.  Consultations typically last 15-20 minutes.

The consultation fee is £195. A £50 deposit is payable at the time of booking.

Can treatment be carried out the day of the consultation?

In some cases, treatment may be carried out on the day of the consultation. This depends on the nature of the lesion, clinical assessment, and appointment availability.

If I go ahead with a procedure, are there hidden costs, like histology?

We aim to be as transparent as possible regarding pricing, so you know what to expect.   All our prices are clearly stated on our pricing page.  At your consultation, should you require a procedure Dr Lowe will discuss the full cost of the operation.   If you proceed to treatment with us, your consultation fee will be deducted from the cost of your procedure.

Basic histopathology testing, worth £185 per specimen, is included in all lesions excised, including moles, cysts and skin cancers.

However, there are occasions when additional diagnostic or prognostic testing is required for some cancerous or borderline lesions, particularly for more advanced melanoma skin cancers.  These tests may incur additional costs, but your permission will always be sought prior to Glasgow Skin Specialists authorising the additional tests with the lab.

A post-operative appointment is also included in the price.

Will I have a follow-up appointment?

Yes. Surgical patients are routinely reviewed after their procedure to check healing, discuss results, and answer any questions.  This is included in the cost of your treatment.

Are procedures performed under local anaesthetic?

Yes. All procedures are carried out comfortably under local anaesthetic in our Glasgow clinic.

Do you treat children?

We treat younger patients 12 and above.   All younger patients need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Please enquire directly should you wish to book for a younger patient.
