Glasgow Skin Specialists was founded to provide expert, specialist skin surgery in a calm, welcoming and patient-focused environment. We combine extensive NHS expertise with personalised care, helping patients across Scotland access assessment and treatment for a wide range of skin concerns.
Our Story
Glasgow Skin Specialists was founded by husband-and-wife team Duncan and Hannah Lowe.

Through Duncan's NHS work treating skin cancer and skin lesions, they saw first-hand how anxious patients can feel when faced with a skin concern and how difficult it can sometimes be to access specialist assessment and treatment quickly.

They created Glasgow Skin Specialists with a simple aim: to combine specialist expertise, clear communication and genuinely compassionate care in a clinic where patients feel informed, reassured and supported.

Meet the team
Dr Duncan Lowe
Clinical Director and Plastic Surgeon
Dr Duncan Lowe has dedicated his career to skin surgery and skin cancer treatment. In his NHS role, he treats hundreds of patients each year with both routine and complex skin conditions.

Dr Lowe studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, where he also gained an MA in Neurophysiology, before completing his clinical training at Imperial College London in 2010. He later returned to Imperial College to undertake a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, graduating with distinction.

Since specialising in Plastic Surgery in 2014, Dr Lowe has focused on skin surgery and skin cancer treatment. He joined the renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 2017, where he developed extensive expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of skin cancer.

In 2023, he was appointed Surgical Lead within Dermatology in addition to his Plastic Surgery role. Across his NHS practice, Dr Lowe assesses and treats almost 1,000 skin cancers each year, making him one of the most experienced clinicians in Scotland working in this field.
Emma Lamb
Lead Nurse
Emma is an experienced dermatology nurse with a background spanning both NHS and private healthcare. Throughout her career, she has cared for patients with a wide range of skin conditions, developing extensive expertise in dermatology, skin surgery and patient care.

Known for her professionalism, kindness and reassuring manner, Emma plays a key role in supporting patients throughout their journey with Glasgow Skin Specialists. From the first consultation through to treatment and follow-up care, she is committed to ensuring every patient feels informed, comfortable and well cared for.

Patients frequently comment on Emma's warm, approachable nature and her ability to put them at ease. She understands that seeking treatment can sometimes feel daunting and takes pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care in a calm and welcoming environment.
Hannah Lowe
Managing Director
Hannah oversees the day-to-day management of Glasgow Skin Specialists, ensuring patients receive a professional, supportive and seamless experience from first enquiry through to follow-up care.
Before founding Glasgow Skin Specialists, Hannah spent over 15 years in senior leadership, policy and governance roles within the UK Civil Service. She brings extensive experience in quality assurance, organisational leadership and governance, helping to ensure the clinic operates to the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Hannah founded Glasgow Skin Specialists alongside her husband, Dr Duncan Lowe, with a shared commitment to providing expert skin care in a welcoming and patient-centred environment.
